SQL Saturday Raleigh

If your organization has big BI dreams and a limited BI budget, you may need a BI Mullet.

Microsoft describes “Managed self-service BI” as “discipline at the core and flexibility at the edge.” This hybrid “BI Mullet” approach empowers end users to develop reports using tools maintained by a central data team.

With the right systems in place, the BI Mullet can encourage innovation and make the most of existing resources. With the wrong ones? Your mullet will get messy fast.

Join this session to learn practical strategies to keep your own BI Mullet on point, including:

• Simplify formatting with customized report themes and templates.
• Eliminate report writing guesswork by tweaking semantic model properties.
• Automate cross-team feedback and collaboration using Power Automate.
• Ensure data stays accessible when it should be and secure when it needs to be.

Every BI Mullet will be a little different. Let’s get yours styled right.

Women in Tech Webinar - Taking Risks

Overview:

Tired of hiding in the background while others confidently share, post, and shine? Have a backlog of content ideas and unposted blog drafts that you just can’t bring yourself to hit “publish” on? This webinar is for every overthinker who’s ever hesitated to raise their hand, share their wins, or even post a selfie with a caption.

Join us for a light-hearted, talk-show style conversation between two friends- one nervous (and hilarious) and one brave (but relatable). Together, we’ll unpack what it really means to “put yourself out there” in today’s professional world- especially as women, as people of color and LGBTQIA+, and as humans just trying to figure it out.

Expect laughter, awkward truths, and practical advice.

We’ll share stories of rejections, flopped posts, Power BI competitions (including one speaker who entered four times before making it to the finals!), and how just showing up led to surprising opportunities. Along the way, we’ll also encourage attendees to share their own experiences and support one another as we all take steps to put ourselves out there, together.

You’ll leave this session with:

– Permission to stop waiting for “perfect”.

– A few small ways to get visible your way

– Real talk about fear, growth, and being seen

– And hopefully, a laugh or two at our expense

Whether you’re an introvert, perfectionist, or someone who’s been waiting for a sign- this is it.

Community Summit NA Roadshow - Philadelphia

Working with data in D365 applications gets a lot easier once you know what’s going on under the hood. While most users don’t need a developer-level knowledge of D365’s data infrastructure, everyone benefits from understanding how the data infrastructure that supports each D365 application works together.

This low-jargon tour of how D365 data flows from your fingertips to underlying data models (and back!) will help you better understand both how and why D365 systems work the way they do. Learn the underlying data anatomy of each “family” of D365 applications, including how that logic defines your options for integration with other tools, such as Fabric and the Power Platform. Leave this session ready to work with your D365 app of choice with less frustration, greater understanding, and more success!
